About The Project

WHO?
My name is Anna.  I am 27 years old and I have been working on this project since October 1, 2012.  I am an RN in Puyallup, Washington State.

WHAT?
I am attempting to read through a self-chosen list of 100 works of classic literature.

WHEN?
I have just under three years until my thirtieth birthday, which will fall on September 13, 2018, so that is the deadline I have set for myself.

WHERE?
I have a Kindle 2nd Generation named Fiona which I won for free from the Seattle Public Library's summer reading program.  As many of the books on my list are in public domain, I will be able to get a lot of them for free from Amazon.com.  The rest I will get from the library, either in hard copy or for Kindle.

WHY?
One of my biggest pet peeves in life is when I don't know what someone is talking about.  This is especially true when they are making some literary reference and I don't get it.  Throughout my childhood I read a lot of classic books, both for school and for fun. But there are still a lot of works of classic literature that I haven't ever read.   So this project is my attempt to become more well-read.

HOW?
Well, first of all, I will be reading.  A lot.  I've decided not to read the books in any particular order, partially to keep my interest high, and partially because I'm still waiting for some books to become available for Kindle.

What about the blog, you ask?  Well, here I will post four main categories of things.

First, I will update you on my progress.  I will let you know how many pages or, when pages are unavailable, what percentage of the book I have finished.  On the home page on the right hand side, you can see a progress bar that shows how much of the overall project I've completed so far.  Plus, I will let you know as I face challenges in completing this project.

Second, I will give a little background information on each book as I come to it, including a short idea of the plot and the time period in which it was written and why it is considered a classic.

Third, I will post new vocabulary words that I have learned.  I love learning new words and with my Kindle, it's even easier to look up definitions.

Fourth, I will post quotes from the book that I love.

Feel free to leave comments or questions on any of the pages.  I love to hear from you!
